MRC Abu Bakar 2012/2013: We Rest Our Cases

We are so sorry for not updating this website for a long time. Actually, we are busy in executing our tasks as committee members of the International Community Service Programme (ICOS) 2013.

Some Programmes Before Dissolution

For your information, Mahallah Abu Bakar Representative Committee (MAB MRC) 2012/2013 was dissolute on 30 April 2013 after organizing a small MAB Appreciation Ceremony and Grand Solat Hajat on that day. The programme is attended by the MAB Principal, Ustaz Hasanul Basri Abdullah, some Hisbah representatives and Muhibbah Team representatives. That programme symbolized dissolution of MAB MRC, Hisbah Committees and Muhibbah Team.

On that day, we welcome our guests (visiting residents of MAB), students of the Science and Technology Preparatory Centre (PPST), Malaysian University of Sabah (UMS) with a small dinner ceremony together with the Principal and the MRC members. For your information, students of PPST UMS went here for the Battle of Nasyeedian Competition (BON) 2013, organized by the Foundation Students Coordination Council (FSCC), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM); Culture and Art Club (CAC) of the Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) and Nasyeed Edutainment Sdn. Bhd. (Nasyeed.Com).

Before that, MRC Abu Bakar held some programmes in March and April; for instance, Burger Fiesta, ICOS 2013 Promotion outside CFS IIUM and Weekly Tazkirah.

RMD Appreciation Ceremony 2013

Yesterday (2 May), Office of the Deputy Dean (Residential Management and Discipline) (RMD), CFS IIUM, organized RMD Appreciation Ceremony 2013 at Sri Bestari Hall, INTEKMA Resort, Shah Alam, Selangor. The ceremony was officiated by the Dean of CFS, Professor Dr. Torla Hj. Hassan. Also attend the ceremony was the Director of CFS, Dato' Abdul Rahim Ahmad, Deputy Dean (RMD) of CFS, Mdm. Rose Haliza Haron, Deputy Dean (Student Development) of CFS, Br. Izdihar Ishak and representatives from Security Management Office, Finance Department and Administration & Service Department.

In the ceremony, Mdm. Rose Haliza Haron congratulates all Mahallat for organizing 397 Mahallah-level and Hisbah-level programmes throughout the academic session of 2012/2013.

There are performances from our Vice President of MRC, Br. Wan Muhammad Azmil Akid Wan Mohd. Marzuki; an EXCO from MRC Umar al-Khattab & Fatimah az-Zahra (UMAFZ), Br. Hasyim Nawwaf Mohd. Mokhtar (member of Major-9 Nasyid team); a member of Zayyan Nasyid team, Br. Azid Azidee Latif and his friend, Br. Saufi, a guitarist. Both of Br. Azid and Br. Saufi is from Mahallah Umar al-Khattab (MUK).

Yesterday, RMD CFS appreciate all peoples and collaborators of RMD for making services of RMD CFS and its offices and committees throughout the academic session of 2012/2013 successful.

In this statement, we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate those who had been awarded, yesterday:

  • The Best Hisbah (MAB): Hisbah Abu Dzar al-Ghifari
    (There is also best Hisbah awards for other Mahallat)
  • Hisbah of the Year: Hisbah Nailah al-Farafisyah (Mahallah Zainab al-Jahsy)

MRC CFS IIUM 2012/2013

The End from Us

The academic session of 2012/2013 is in the end. MAB succeeded in holding many Intra Mahallah programmes – for instance, Muhibbah Team, Forum: DemiMu, Ku Seru, and many more – and in assisting some Inter Mahallah programmes – for instance, Ramadhan Night Festival 1433/2012, Mahallah Ethical Transformation Campaign (MAETCAM) 2013, and many more – throughout academic year 2012/2013. Other than that, our executives of MAB, including the Principal, fellows, administrative staffs, MRC members and Hisbah representatives, also succeeded in serving MAB throughout this academic session after go through obstacles and challenges. Alhamdulillah.

Truly, it’s an honour to us – as a group of the trustees of MAB – to serve and be responsible towards MAB in the academic session of 2012/2013. After our dissolution, we wish Allah will accept our works and efforts towards CFS IIUM, especially towards MAB. Together with this statement, we pray, may Allah SWT helps us in continue our service towards our beloved Islam and Malaysia, especially our beloved CFS IIUM.

We thank you all, especially MAB residents, for your support, advices, pray and cooperation during our service time in MAB. Forgive us for our faults, mistakes and sins throughout this academic session. We pledge to improve ourselves to be the better persons, InsyaAllah.

Finally, we wish Allah SWT will grant us His bless, grace and forgiveness towards us. Amin ya Rabb al-Alamin.

MRC Leadership & Teambuilding Camp

MRC CFS IIUM in LTC Phase 2

Office of the Deputy Dean (Residential Management and Discipline) (RMDD), Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS), IIUM, organized Mahallah Representative Committee (MRC) Leadership Training Camp Phase 2 on 1-3 March 2013 at The Jungle Lodge Alang Sedayu, Mile 12, Gombak, Selangor. The programme was officiated by the Deputy Dean (RMDD), CFS IIUM, Madam Rose Haliza Harun.

Layang Adventure was appointed to conduct LTC Phase 2 that focuses on leadership and team-building. 60 MRC members from 6 MRC participated this 3-days adventure and nature programme. Some committee members also joined in the programme as the full-time committee member and the part-time participants.

During the closing ceremony, Madam Rose excited with the activities and modules prepared by the organizer, Layang Adventure, especially nature-based activities like jungle trekking, abseiling and life survival in the jungle. Nature-based activities were organized at Pisang River, about 29 kilometres from Gombak Toll Plaza of East Coast Highway. She also overwhelmed with the spirit of belongings and brotherhoods shown by MRC members during the programme.

She then told all in MRC LTC Phase 2 that MRC LTC Phase 2 aimed its objectives. Now, it's the time for MRC members to apply knowledge that we learn from MRC LTC Phase 2.

Congratulations to all MRC members from all Mahallat of CFS, also to respective staffs of RMDD, for making the programme the successful event.

ICOS 2013: Job Offer



International Community Service Programme (ICOS) 2013 Steering Committee is searching for Committee Members of ICOS.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS
(Coordination / Welfare / Publication & Promotion / Sponsorship / Preparation & Technical / Sub Programme Organization)

Requirements:

  • Foundation student of International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
  • Possess leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Willing to work and cooperate voluntarily.

Interested applicants are invited to fill in Application Form that can be collected from Mahallah Abu Bakar Office, IIUM, Petaling Jaya, Selangor; or from Mahallah Zainab al-Jahsyi Office, IIUM, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, and send your application form to the respective office.

Applicants will be interviewed by the Board of Trustees of ICOS. Successful applicants will be selected and appointed as a Committee Member in ICOS Steering Committee.

Happy New Year 2013


Mahallah Abu Bakar wishes you Happy New Year 2013. May 2013 for us is better than 2012.

We seek your forgiveness for our fault and guilty during our service in Mahallah Abu Bakar. We pledge to serve the Mahallah better in 2013.

To those who attend CFS for Semester 2, 2012/2013, we wish you Happy Holiday. Have a safe journey going back home and a pleasure vacation.

See you in Semester 3, 2012/2013 with many more activities to be held, especially by Mahallah Representative Committee.

Statements on Complaints Towards MAB Cafe


بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

There are complaints from Mahallah Abu Bakar (MAB) residents and MAB Cafe customers about price at MAB Cafe. MAB Representative Committee (MAB MRC) already reported about this matter to Mr. Principal. He then ordered a survey and inquiry to be conducted by MRC.

According to our calendar, we will conduct Mahallah Survey only in the next semester; but as Mr. Principal ordered a survey about MAB Cafe to be conducted, a survey is conducted only on the MAB Cafe. For that, we still seeking cooperations from MAB residents and MAB Cafe customers to tell us or MAB Office about price at MAB Cafe. We conduct this survey and inquiry using your comments, complaints, suggestions and reports.

Mr. Principal also heard that many MAB residents currently dine at Mahallah Umar al-Khattab (MUK) Cafe everyday. He support and affirm that action.

I saw that there was an action towards MAB Cafe made by some MAB residents to decrease prices of foods and beverages at MAB Cafe.

MAB also received an insistence to change the current contractor of MAB Cafe to the new one. For information, MAB has no power to change it as the power for that matter is reserved only to Administration and Service Department (ADMIN). Sometimes that power is executed by central - IIUM Gombak - Development Division through Facilities, Food and Service Department.

Just now, I made a rough inspection towards MAB Cafe in the capacity of MRC member. There are rumours that MAB Cafe will decrease prices of foods and beverages for students effective from yesterday (4 December). That rumors now are reality - it was realized. We thank those who had took action towards MAB Cafe to decrease prices of their selling.

Please be informed that ADMIN already met the manager of MAB Cafe to discuss about complains towards MAB Cafe received by them. That meeting is one of the causes that made the price of foods and beverages at MAB Cafe are decreased. We appreciate the power exercised by ADMIN through Food and Beverages Unit in solving this matter.

However, MAB still seeking responses from residents and Cafe customers about the new price of the sellings at MAB Cafe. We hope that all will be satisfied with the prices offered by MAB Cafe.
